About Me

The first woman I remember seeing struggle with her weight was my mother. She had a healthy weight up to when menopause started. I remember she used to treat her weight with an endocrinologist, but she tried different unsustainable diets as well.

My mother is a seamstress, so I grew up browsing fashion magazines from all over the world, practically every day. The standard we saw in magazines up to that point was skinnier women.  Each decade had its fashion and every 3 months, there was a new famous fad diet. I remember seeing them in magazines in the 80’s and 90’s.

Girlene Coughlin, Registered Dietitian.

As a teenager, like every good teenager, I started paying attention to how women referred to themselves when talking about their own bodies, and how women tend to compare their bodies to the bodies of other women – and sometimes to the bodies of men: “my husband has always been skinnier, he eats and doesn’t put on weight”. I never understood why women had to compare themselves to people who were clearly genetically different and have a certain body, a smaller waist, among other things. It’s a culture. It’s ingrained in women’s brains that we need to be a certain way to be accepted. I respect all body sizes, each person has their own medical conditions, their own emotional issues, lifestyle, and their own circumstances that may not be ideal for them to control their weight. Some people are just comfortable being heavier and don’t want to change. As long as their health isn’t severely affected by staying overweight, I’d say they should choose to be overweight, healthy and happy. Beyond esthetics though, is health.

My clients come to me to ask for help because they need to feel more energy, they need to eat healthier, what to eat and when, how to fit a healthier lifestyle into a busy life, and sometimes they don’t have support from anybody else. That’s where I come in. I invite you to join me in your journey to a healthier you. In a world where we look at screens and sit most of the time, we NEED to BEHAVE as healthy as ever.

Give me your trust, and sign up to be coached by me. I promise you, once you join, you will regret not signing up for it sooner!

With sights on a healthier version of you,
